UNIOSUN MANAGEMENT SETS ASIDE N10M FOR STAFF HEALTHCARE

In continuation of the commitment to staff welfare and needs, the Professor Labode Popoola-led administration recently set aside a sum of ten-million (N10M) naira fund to take care of critical health needs of staff. The Management decision was strongly supported by the Governing Council of the University, which formally approved the creation of the fund for the university critical health care needs at the Council’s recent meeting in early February of this year.

The N10m, which is serving, as the seed fund was part of the proceeds generated from the last 2017 Post UTME exercise. This decision to create this Healthcare Fund followed the requests from members of staff for financial assistance to take care of their critical health issues as experienced in recent past.

Management took this decision in the hope that this would forestall possible incidence of sudden and untimely deaths that could result from staff’s lack of financial capacity to care of their critical health needs. As part of efforts to securing this fund, a special bank account has been opened to ensure this fund don’t get mixed-up with other finances of the university. In addition to boosting the fund, the university will also approach eminent Nigerians and bodies to support this initiative.

The HealthCare Fund is the first of its kind in any Nigerian university or tertiary education sector.
