UNIOSUN LECTURER DELIVERS LECTURE AT KING’S COLLEGE LONDON

A media technology scholar at Osun State University, Dr Wale Oni, delivers a lecture at the African Leadership Centre for Peace, Security and Development, Kings College, London. The lecture which reflects on research for Peace Security in digital Africa is aim to build a new community of leaders generating cutting edge knowledge on peace, security and development.

Wale Oni is a media technology scholar and currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Salford, Manchester, United Kingdom. He holds BA and MA degrees in Communications and Language Arts obtained at the premier University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Having held formal teaching positions in Nigeria, research and academic interests cut across new (social) media studies, cultural studies, discourse analysis, political communications and journalism studies. With bias in media psychology, ‘Wale is currently working on how technology adoption in broadcasting is shaping African/Nigerian journalists’ perceptions of their professional roles. He has publications in peer reviewed journals with chapter publications in reputable books on media and discourse analysis.

In 2012, he won a travel grant to Bauhaus Universitat, Weimar Germany where he presented the only African paper on mobile phone use under the theme Media of the Metapolis.

Wale Oni’s interest in media and allied communication technologies spanning over a decade now makes him one of Nigeria’s emerging scholar of new/digital media.
