10 UNIOSUN STUDENTS BAG ENGR. PONNLE, VC SCHOLARSHIPS
Ten students have emerged as beneficiaries of Engr. Tunde Ponnle’s
scholarship scheme which covers a period of one semester. Three of the
beneficiaries who have cumulative grade points average of 4 and above will have
their school fees paid for a full session as Vice-Chancellor, Professor
Labode Popoola also pledged to support the scheme.
The three lucky winners of the joint Ponnle-Popoola philanthropic
gesture are Olaosebikan Amos, a 400Level student of Electrical Electronics
Engineering with CGPA of 4.52; Oyekunle Samuel, a 300Level student of
Physiology with CGPA of 4.0 and OkeowoTolulope, 400Level student of Mathematics
with CGPA of 4.24.
Other beneficiaries include Akindele Bolatito, 300Level Plant
Biology; Olatona Balkis Adetola, 200Level Anatomy, Ajao Adekunle Lukman, 400Level
Mechanical Engineering; Okeniyi Kehinde, 400Level Michrobiology and Adedoja Taiwo, 200Level Public Health.
The Vice-Chancellor in his remarks disclosed that the scholarship
scheme would be funded by the accumulated sitting allowances of Engr. Ponnle as
external member of the University Governing Council.
The Vice-Chancellor said, “Council members are paid allowances but
instead of collecting his own, Engr. Ponnledecided that his money be kept for
the purpose of paying the school fees of the indigent students in the
University.”
The Vice-Chancellor thanked Engr. Ponnle for the kind gesture and
congratulated the beneficiaries of the scholarship, urging them to remain
diligent and committed to their studies. He said it was important to tell them
the background of the scholarship to enable them develop the spirit of
contributing to humanity in future.
In his remarks, Engr. Ponnle described the scholarship as a
challenge to the beneficiaries to be more hardworking and committed to their
studies and develop the spirit of giving back to society.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to their benefactors and
pledged to remain committed to their future dream of becoming successful
persons in their respective careers and impacting on humanity.
