OSUN DEPUTY GOVERNOR DELIVERS LECTURE AT IFETEDO CAMPUS, ADVISES STUDENTS TO DREAM BIG
Students of Osun
State University have been advised to aim for the best, stay focused and work
hard towards bringing their respective lofty dreams to reality. The Deputy Governor
of the State of Osun, Iyaafin Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori gave this admonition on Tuesday,
22 May, 2018 while delivering a lecture at the College of Law, Ifetedo Campus
of the University.
The lecture entitled,
“Being an Administrator, Politician, and
Home Maker: Challenges and Strategies towards a Successful Combination” was
organized by the UNIOSUN Legal Clinic for the undergraduate law students of the
University.
The Deputy Governor highlighted
a set of principles which when strictly applied would aid attainment of success in
life, even as she urged the students to adhere strictly to those principles to
make their big dreams come to reality.
She said: “Now,
wherever, and at whatever position you find yourself in the society, both at
home and in the public realm, the following principles apply within the parameters
of the assumed standard for success.
“First, there is no
room for lazy people. Secondly, resilience, commitment, hard work, consistently
horned skill, pragmatic or realistic goal-setting, patience and being
importunate at your pre-set goals and objectives are key determinants of how
far you will go in life.” She maintained
however that the workability of the above principles would depend on the
ability of individuals to infuse the king principle of “no compromise” in all
they do.
The Deputy Governor,
while responding to various questions from students during the interactive
session, condemned the immoral and decadent sexual practices among the students
including cohabitation between male and female students who are not legally
married together, popularly tagged ‘couples life’. These, she said, were
parts of factors that could militate against successfully attainments of a
person’s dreams in life.
The Vice-Chancellor,
Professor Labode Popoola and the Provost of the College of Law, Professor
Olaide Gbadamosi, in their respective remarks thanked the Deputy Governor for honoring
the invitation and delivering a masterpiece, which is expected to make a far
reaching positive impacts in the lives of the students.
UNIOSUN Legal Clinic
is a group of past and present students of the College rendering free legal
services to the helpless citizens with a view to protecting their rights and curbing
injustice in society.
Barrister Falade, a
Lecturer in the College and the Coordinator of the young,vibrant, self-funded legal
group, told the gathering that since its inception, UNIOSUN Legal Clinic had won
a significant number of cases out of 35 cases handled within the South Western
Nigeria while several others are still pending in court.
The occasion was
attended by dignitaries from within and outside the University Community,
including the entourage of the guest speaker, the principal officers of the University
as well as Council of Chiefs in Ifetedo Community.
