Mr. Rotimi Feruke (Bursar, UNIOSUN) |
By the time all entreaties are actualized,
chartered accountants in the Bursary Department and Audit unit of Osun State
University will start joining their academic colleagues in the classroom to
teach ICAN courses in part-time and other related programmes being run by the
university. The University Bursar, Mr. Rotimi Feruke
disclosed this on Thursday, 18th May, 2018, while receiving the ICAN
supervision team in his office at the main Campus of the University, Osogbo.
According to him, necessary consultations have
been made with the headship of relevant departments and faculty in the College
of Management and Social Sciences to ensure that those with higher academic
qualifications among the non-teaching chartered accountants are included in the
list of facilitators in the University ICAN programmes. The Bursar commended
ICAN for choosing Osun State University as one of the Examinations centers in
the State.
He said:“This opportunity will not only encourage
other aspiring staff, it would also go a long way in grooming the career of
students, especially students of Accounting Department and related disciplines
to become certified in their prime ages.” He also commended members for keeping
to professional ethics in the face of numerous challenges.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Osun State and
District Society, Mr. Emmanuel Idowu
said imbibing the ideals of the profession as a chartered accountant would lead
to a drastic reduction in corruption cases in the country. He said: “If those
of us in the field choose to obey the rules of the game, Nigeria will be better
for it.”
The Chairman ICAN, Osun State University chapter, Mr. Samuel Obisesan, appreciated the team for the visit. The
reception was attended by the chartered accountants in the Audit and Bursary
Departments, including a former Acting Bursar of the University, Dr. Samuel
Adegbite and the immediate past Acting Bursar, Mr. Mukaila Oyekanmi.
