EUPHORIA AS UNIOSUN PREPARES TO HOST VICE-PRESIDENT YEMI OSINBAJO, TO DELIVER UNIOSUN 7TH CONVOCATION LECTURE

The Visitor to UNIOSUN and Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, UNIOSUN Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Mallam Yusuf Ali (SAN), the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Labode Popoola and the entire university community will on Thursday, November 22, 2018 host His Excellency, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN, GCON) who will deliver the UNIOSUN's 7th Convocation Lecture titled, "Six Decades of Chequered Nationhood: Nigeria Still Holds the Key to Africa's Development".

The Lecture is one of the activities lined up for the 7th Convocation of the University scheduled to hold from Thursday, 15th to Thursday, 22nd November, 2018. It is a week-long programme, which begins with a press briefing and thanksgiving services on November, 15, 16 & 18, 2018 respectively.

On Tuesday, 20th November, 2018, a lecture titled, "Fraud Detection and Prevention: The Roles of the Reporting Company and the External Auditor", will be delivered by Professor Rafiu Oyesola Salawu from the Department of Management and Accounting, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife in the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Auditorium, Main Campus, Osogbo.

This lecture has been incorporated into the convocation programmes in honour of late Mrs. ABIMBOLA AINA OMOLOLU- MULELE whose family donated a whopping sum of thirty-eight million naira (N38M) to the University for the funding and maintenance in perpetuity of the Annual Candido da Rocha Chair for Accountancy.

This brings to three (3) the number of lectures to be delivered at the convocation programmes, with the Foundation Day Lecture titled: 'People, Peace and Partnerships: The Nexus that will Shape Africa's Prosperity' to be delivered by Emmanuel Mutisya from African Development Bank, Ivory Coast, on Wednesday, 21st November, 2018.

The main convocation event which is the conferment of degrees has been scheduled to hold in three days, Tuesday, November 20 (Colleges of Law & Management and Social Sciences); Wednesday, November 21 (Colleges of Agriculture, Education, Humanities and Culture) to and Thursday, November 22 (Postgraduate College and College of Science, Engineering and Technology & College of Health Sciences), 2018 when the first set of our postgraduate students shall be conferred with Masters Degrees across different courses. Three eminent personalities will also be conferred with honorary degrees during the grand finale.

The programme also includes the commissioning of some of the completed projects in the University by the Governor of the State of Osun and Visitor to the University, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on Monday, 19th November, 2018.
